Exploring Your Questions Panel Discussion
Overview
In this “Ask Me Anything” session for the NECCC “You Be the Judge Miniseries,” a panel of experts will answer questions from the audience regarding the first three episodes: “Using a Photo’s Impact to Influence Commenting,” “Making Competitive Nature Images,” and “Evaluating Nature Images.” The panel will also answer your questions related to judging and competition topics and gather feedback on future episode topics from the audience.
Panelists
William B. Barnett FPSA, GMPSA, AFIAP, HonNEC
Bill recently celebrated 50 years of travel and photography. He has been active for many years in Connecticut photography clubs. For the last 17 years he has been on the Executive Committee of the New England Camera Club Council and until recently was co-director of the Projected Image Interclub Competition. He is a frequent speaker and judge in New England and beyond. He has won numerous awards for his photography. His favorite type of photography is travel.
Chane Cullens, HonNEC
Chane lives in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. In addition to being a Vice President of NECCC and leading their Keeping Clubs Active Group, he is also a board member for the Flagpole Photographers Camera Club. He has presented photography related programs at NECCC Photography Conferences, many camera clubs, high schools and community sponsored events. His favorite topics include educating photographers on how judges evaluate photos and helping judges evaluate photos. He has presented on Judging Camera Club Competitions, Creating Photos with Impact, An Excellent Photo is “Not About Gear,” and How to Avoid Losing Your Digital Photographs among others. He has also created an annual all-day hands-on workshop that covers photography basics, downloading, and some post-processing of photos. Chane also designed and taught a class on Nature Photography for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
Michael Goodman, MNEC
Michael is a very sought-after judge, judging at many camera clubs throughout New England as well as many interclub competitions-both NECCC, PSA, and international photographic exhibitions. He has presented teaching programs and showcases throughout the northeast.
Mike began taking pictures as a teenager and has continued ever since. He has won numerous awards in international exhibitions as well as juried shows throughout New England and his landscape and nature work has been exhibited at galleries around New England. Recently, his images were selected for inclusion in the New Hampshire Society of Photographic Artists yearlong ‘New Hampshire Now’ book project. He has been a very active member of the Gateway Camera Club for over 40 years and actively participates in the Greater Lynn Photographic Association, Seacoast Camera Club-NH, The New Hampshire Artists Association, and Massachusetts Camera Naturalists- CamNats, an invitation-only nature photography association. For his photographic art as well as his service to the New England photographic community, Mike was awarded the honor of Master Member of the New England Camera Club Council-MNEC.
Rick Cloran, HonFPSA, GMPSA, HonNEC
Rick is a well-known judge and lecturer having served in those capacities extensively in New England as well as throughout the US and Canada. He has been a member of the Greater Lynn Photographic Association since 1975. For his service to photography both in New England and at a national level he has been awarded the Honor of HonFPSA by the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and HonNEC by the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC). His success in exhibitions has earned him the GMPSA distinction.
Dennis Goulet, HonNEC
A member of Photographic Society of Rhode Island since 2000, Dennis Goulet spends much of his photography efforts on landscape and nature subjects, especially close up and focus stacking techniques.
He is a past president and currently Chairman of the Board of the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC). He gives presentations on photographic technique at camera clubs, has presented six times at the NECCC annual photography conference, and was the General Chairman of the NECCC 2013 and 2014 annual photography conferences.
Dennis’ images have appeared in several magazines including Audubon, Nature’s Best Photography, Wild Bird, Birder’s World, Rhode Island Monthly, Outdoor Photographer, and Sierra, as well as on the websites of Audubon and National Wildlife magazine. His image of a Green-breasted Mango was selected Grand Prize Winner of Audubon Magazine’s 2010 Birds-In-Focus photography contest.
